                      Armando Chacón

Artist | Painter | Muralist

Armando Chacón is a Guatemalan-born American artist whose work bridges surrealism, abstraction, and impressionism through a deeply emotional and experiential lens. With over three decades of artistic practice, Chacón creates paintings and large-scale murals that explore the intersection of memory, movement, cultural identity, and the human spirit.

His work moves fluidly between plein air painting and studio abstraction, capturing both the visible landscape and the unseen interior world. Light, atmosphere, and gesture play central roles in his compositions, where structure and spontaneity coexist. Whether working on canvas or architectural surfaces, Chacón approaches each piece as a living dialogue between color, rhythm, and story.

Chacón has exhibited extensively throughout Georgia, Florida, and the Southeast, with work shown at institutions and venues including the Governor’s Office at the Georgia State Capitol, the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, Alpharetta Arts Center, Atlanta Artist Center, and numerous regional galleries and cultural centers. His work has also been featured in national and international publications such as Studio Visit Magazine, Voyage ATL, Ibero Americana Magazine, and The International Art Catalogue.

A recipient of multiple awards—including First Place at the Georgia Color Plein Air Competition and Best in Show at the Coral Springs Museum of Art—Chacón’s career reflects both technical excellence and conceptual depth. His early international recognition began with winning Best in Show in the Iberia Airlines National Contest in Guatemala City.

Beyond gallery work, Chacón is an accomplished muralist whose public art projects bring communities together through visual storytelling. His murals include a future installation for the City of Brookhaven, David T. Howard Middle School in Atlanta, and the Distillery of Modern Art, among others. His public work emphasizes connection, transformation, and collective identity.

Chacón was an artist-in-residence at the Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynwood, Florida (2004–2009), a formative period that strengthened his voice within contemporary Latin American expression.

Now based in Georgia, Armando Chacón continues to create work that honors heritage while embracing evolution—painting not only what is seen, but what is felt.
